VERTICAL PUMPS, AXIAL-FLOW AND MIXED-FLOW IMPELLER-TYPE

NOTE: This guide specification covers the
requirements for vertical axial-and mixed-flow
impeller-type pumps, having a pump discharge
diameter up to and including 2100 mm (84 inches),
for flood control and hurricane protection projects.
Comments and suggestions on this guide specification
are welcome and should be directed to the technical
proponent of the specification. A listing of
technical proponents, including their organization
designation and telephone number, is on the Internet.
Recommended changes to a UFGS should be submitted as
a Criteria Change Request (CCR).
Use of electronic communication is encouraged.
Brackets are used in the text to indicate designer
choices or locations where text must be supplied by
the designer.

This specification is written to obtain reliable,
long-lasting pumps that are suited for the purpose
intended at the most economical price. It requires
the use of grease- or oil-lubricated bearings and
packing glands, and permits the manufacturer to use
his standard castings for the suction bell and the
bowls.
