NOTE: This guide specification covers the
requirements for solar domestic and service water
heating equipment.
Comments and suggestions on this guide specification
are welcome and should be directed to the technical
proponent of the specification. A listing of
technical proponents, including their organization
designation and telephone number, is on the Internet.
Recommended changes to a UFGS should be submitted as
a Criteria Change Request (CCR).
Use of electronic communication is encouraged.
Brackets are used in the text to indicate designer
choices or locations where text must be supplied by
the designer.

GENERAL

NOTE: In accordance with the design guidance
presented in TM 5-804-2, the system is designed
around the properties of a particular collector.
The designer should indicate the design methodology
used on the drawings. This ensures that equipment
shown on detail drawings (if different from the
equipment assumed by the designer) is properly
sized. It is particularly important for the
designer to indicate on the drawings the collector
parameters used in the design. Detail drawings
returned should also be so noted, particularly if
the collector chosen has properties different from
those used in the original design. An appendix of
TM 5-804-2 provides the designer, project manager,
and quality assurance personnel a checklist of
