The boiler manufacturer shall be consulted for the determination of the
boiler water chemical composition limits. The boiler water limits shall be
as follows unless dictated differently by the boiler manufacturer's
recommendations:

Water Softening System
**************************************************************************
NOTE: The makeup water analysis and the boiler
manufacturer's recommended feed water conditions
will be used to determine the need for a water
softener. TM 5-650 contains general guidance for
the selection.
**************************************************************************
The water softening system shall be as specified in Section 11250 WATER
SOFTENERS, CATION-EXCHANGE (SODIUM CYCLE).
2.16.4
Chemical Feed Pumps
**************************************************************************
NOTE: The required maximum pump flow rate will be
shown on the drawings. The flow rate will depend
upon the makeup water flow rate and the chemical
company should be consulted for determining the
proper maximum pump flow rate.
**************************************************************************
One pump shall be provided for each chemical feed tank. The chemical feed
pumps shall be positive displacement diaphragm type. The capacity of the
pumps shall be adjustable from 0 to 100 percent while in operation. The
discharge pressure of the pumps shall be not less than 1.5 times the
pressure at the point of connection. The pumps shall be provided with a
pressure relief valve and a check valve mounted in the pump discharge.
2.16.5
Tanks
**************************************************************************
NOTE: A water treatment company will be consulted
to determine the number of tanks required. The
number will depend on the size of the boiler, makeup
water line will be provided near the tanks for the
