NONBEARING MASONRY VENEER/STEEL STUD WALLS

NOTE: This guide specification covers the
requirements for nonbearing walls consisting of a
masonry veneer wythe that is supported laterally by
a cold-formed steel framing system. The steel
framing does not resist vertical and/or horizontal
loads in the plane of the wall.
Comments and suggestions on this guide specification
are welcome and should be directed to the technical
proponent of the specification. A listing of
technical proponents, including their organization
designation and telephone number, is on the Internet.
Recommended changes to a UFGS should be submitted as
a Criteria Change Request (CCR).
Use of electronic communication is encouraged.

choices or locations where text must be supplied by

NOTE: For Army projects TM 5-809-3/AFM 88-3, Chap 3
should be used for crack control; ASCE 7 should be
used for wind loadings; TI 809-04 Seismic Design for
Buildings will be consulted for seismic
considerations; and TM 5-809-6/AFM 88-3, Chap 4
should be consulted for caulking and sealant
requirements and details.
The project drawings should show all necessary
