NOTE: This guide specification covers the
removal of flammable vapors including paint spraying
residue, corrosive fumes, dust, and stock conveying.
Comments and suggestions on this guide specification
are welcome and should be directed to the technical
proponent of the specification. A listing of
technical proponents, including their organization
designation and telephone number, is on the Internet.
Recommended changes to a UFGS should be submitted as
a Criteria Change Request (CCR).
Use of electronic communication is encouraged.

NOTE: This guide specification also includes
plastic duct systems for removal of nonflammable
corrosive fumes and vapors. Materials shall be
selected by the designer to suit project
requirements. The system shall be designed in
accordance with NFPA 91. Ventilation and exhaust
systems and components for removal of smoke and
grease laden vapors from commercial type cooking
equipment are covered in Section 11400N FOOD SERVICE
EQUIPMENT and Section 15810N DUCTWORK AND DUCTWORK
ACCESSORIES. Laboratory fume hoods are covered in
Section 11601 LABORATORY EQUIPMENT AND FUME HOODS.
The design agency (EFD, OICC, PWC, etc.) shall
ensure review of the ventilation system design by
the appropriate Naval Medical Command (NAVMEDCOM)
activity in accordance with NAVOSH requirements. For
