SECTION 13280A
ASBESTOS HAZARD CONTROL ACTIVITIES

NOTE: This guide specification covers the
requirements for removal, encapsulation, enclosure
encasement, or repair of friable and non-friable
asbestos-containing material (ACM) which is
encountered during the demolition, alteration,
renovation, or maintenance of structures,
substrates, equipment or portions thereof that
contain asbestos; transportation, disposal, storage,
containment of; and housekeeping activities on the
site at which these activities are performed This
specification is used in conjunction with UFGS-01525
SAFETY AND OCCUPATIONAL HEALTH REQUIREMENTS.
Comments and suggestions on this guide specification
are welcome and should be directed to the technical
proponent of the specification. A listing of
technical proponents, including their organization
designation and telephone number, is on the Internet.
Recommended changes to a UFGS should be submitted as
a Criteria Change Request (CCR).
Use of electronic communication is encouraged.
Brackets are used in the text to indicate designer
choices or locations where text must be supplied by
the designer.
This guide specification includes tailoring options
for (1) No Detail Sheets, (2) Class I, II, III
Abatement, (3) Class II Removal, and (4) Demolition.
Selection of tailoring options for this Section,
must be done in numerical order from (1) to (4);
Option (1) includes (2), (3) and (4); option (2)
includes (3) and (4) etc. Editing of each option
(punctuation, paragraph numbers, proper listing
sequences, etc.) to fit the project is still
required.
